Transport & Highways

The site is located north of Ashton Road and comprises undeveloped land used for agricultural purposes.  The development site is in a sustainable location with good access to a wide range of local service and facilities by walking, cycling, and a good quality bus service linking to the site to Northampton and Milton Keynes.

Access to the development would be via a priority controlled T-junction on Ashton Road.  Suitable carriageway widths throughout the development would be provided to accommodate the dwellings and footways would be provided throughout to accommodate pedestrian movements to and from the development.  For vehicles emerging from the site access, adequate visibility splays in accordance with the recorded vehicle speeds on Ashton Road are achievable.  Traffic calming features will also be provided to enhance the village gateway for vehicles travelling eastbound into Hartwell.

The development would generate around 30 vehicle trips in the morning and evening peak hours.  These additional trips would divide at the access and can be accommodated by the local highway network and no adverse highway safety issues would result from the development.

Overall, the site is in a sustainable location with good links to the highway network.
